It’s True, Unless | Week 3

SERIES: It’s True, Unless…
MESSAGE: Children
DATE: August 21, 2022

“I tell you the truth…”

“I tell you the truth, unless…”

“At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “So who is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” Matthew 18:1

He called a small child and had him stand among them. “Truly I tell you,” he said, “unless you turn and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 18:2-3

Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child — this one is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭18:4

In a culture that promotes self, how do we actually step into what Jesus says here is true?

“If anyone would like to acquire humility, I can, I think, tell him the first step. The first step is to realize that one is proud. And a biggish step, too. At least, nothing whatever can be done before it. If you think you are not conceited, it means you are very conceited indeed.”  (C.S. Lewis, “Mere Christianity”)
