DATE: July 30, 2023

“…so we’ll know how to live well and right, to understand what life means and where it’s going.”  Proverbs 1:2, The Message

Wisdom is knowing how to live skillfully in God’s world.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and discipline.  Proverbs 1:7

Change takes

The one who works his land will have plenty of food, but whoever chases fantasies lacks sense.  Proverbs 12:11

The slacker does not plow during planting season; at harvest time he looks, and there is nothing.  Proverbs 20:4

Change takes

I went by the field of a slacker and by the vineyard of one lacking sense.

Thistles had come up everywhere, weeds covered the ground, and the stone wall was ruined.

I saw, and took it to heart; I looked, and received instruction: a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the arms to rest, and your poverty will come like a robber, and your need, like a bandit.  Proverbs 24:30-34

There is profit in all hard work, but endless talk leads only to poverty.  Proverbs 14:23

Change takes

I give thanks to my God for every remembrance of you, always praying with joy for all of you in my every prayer, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. I am sure of this, that he who started a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.  Philippians 1:3-6

Not that I have already reached the goal or am already perfect, but I make every effort to take hold of it because I also have been taken hold of by Christ Jesus. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and reaching forward to what is ahead,I pursue as my goal the prize promised by God’s heavenly call in Christ Jesus.  Philippians 3:12-14
