Easter at Christ’s Church

MESSAGE:  Easter
DATE:  April 4, 2021

There is a difference between what we Hope FOR and what we Hope IN.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead and into an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you. You are being guarded by God’s power through faith for a salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.   1 Peter 1:3-5

“…a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead…”

“Christianity, if false, is of no importance, and, if true, of infinite importance. The one thing it cannot be is moderately important.”
(C.S. Lewis, “Mere Christianity”)

Door to a Relationship with Jesus

“…he has given us new birth…”  1 Peter 1:3

I am the gate. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will come in and go out and find pasture. A thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I have come so that they may have life and have it in abundance.  John 10:9-10

Door to Freedom and Power

“…a living hope…”  1 Peter 1:3

“…know that God’s power is very great for us who believe. That power is the same as the great strength God used to raise Christ from the dead and put him at his right side in the heavenly world.”  Ephesians 1:19-20

Door to Eternal Life

“…inheritance…in heaven…”  1 Peter 1:4

Now since the children have flesh and blood in common, Jesus also shared in these, so that through his death he might destroy the one holding the power of death—that is, the devil— and free those who were held in slavery all their lives by the fear of death.  Hebrews 2:14-15, The Message
