Things don’t stay in their proper place on their own.

Why does Paul want the Corinthians to put things in their proper place?
So they can live with wisdom and integrity in a culture of chaos and excess.

GREY AREAS are…

Morally neutral

Biblically ambiguous

Culturally controversial

GREY AREAS appear to give us “FREEDOMS”.

You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you. You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is beneficial.  Don’t be concerned for your own good but for the good of others.  1 Corinthians 10:23-24

So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.  Don’t give offense to Jews or Gentiles or the church of God.  I, too, try to please everyone in everything I do. I don’t just do what is best for me; I do what is best for others so that many may be saved.  1 Corinthians 10:31-33

And you should imitate me, just as I imitate Christ.  1 Corinthians 11:1

What does the Bible say?

What builds up the community and helps the gospel go out?

Is the action worth copying / imitating?

Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me.  Matthew 16:24

What would it look like for you and your family to put things in their proper place?
