Would You Rather? | Week 2

SERIES: Would You Rather?
MESSAGE: Be a Fruit Tree or a Thorn Bush?
DATE: September 19, 2021

“Be on your guard against false prophets who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravaging wolves. You’ll recognize them by their fruit. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes or figs from thistles?  Matthew 7:15-16

In the same way, every good tree produces good fruit, but a bad tree produces bad fruit. A good tree can’t produce bad fruit; neither can a bad tree produce good fruit. Matthew 7:17-18

Every tree that doesn’t produce good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.  So you’ll recognize them by their fruit. Matthew 7:19-20

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven. Matthew 7:21

On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, didn’t we prophesy in your name, drive out demons in your name, and do many miracles in your name?’ Then I will announce to them, ‘I never knew you. Depart from me, you lawbreakers!’  Matthew 7:22-23

“Remain in me, and I in you. Just as a branch is unable to produce fruit by itself unless it remains on the vine, neither can you unless you remain in me.”   ‭‭John‬ ‭15:4‬ ‭

Some prophets are “false” because of their content

Some prophets are “false” because of their character

God’s will is more often associated with compassion, mercy and love than it is performance and acts of power.
